Asset Explorer - Preferences and Settings

  • Updated

Various options are available to be set by users in Asset Explorer.

When we refer to Preferences we mean options configured for each user, and by Settings we mean configuration settings that apply to all users.

The main icon for editing Preferences is the cog wheel icon which can be found in the top right corner of the Workspace panel:

Clicking on this icon brings up the Asset Explorer Preferences panel shown below.

You can also access this panel from the Advanced Search overlay by clicking on the cog wheel icon there:

When the 'Advanced Search' tab on the left is selected, you can tick the fields you want to see in Advanced Search. Click on Submit when you have made your selection.

When the Properties tab is selected on the left (see below), you can select the fields you want to see in the Action Panel on the right for either assets or collections. Choose the Assets tab at the top to configure the asset metadata view, and the Collections icon to the right of it  to configure the collection metadata view.

When the 'Workspace' tab is selected on the left, you can select the fields to be displayed below thumbnails in the grid view or to the right of thumbnails in list view. A maximum of 5 fields can be selected in list view or 2 fields in the grid view.

An example of list view selections is shown below.

Sort order preferences can also be set using the icons top right of the Navigator panel and the Workspace panel (see below). The Custom setting allows collections or assets to be dragged and dropped into a new order and currently this is a universal setting (not a user preference). It also will affect the order of collections on your front-end website.
