Key Components:

  1. Search: empowers users to quickly locate specific objects.

  2. Toolbar: provides easy access to essential functions.

  3. Navigator: displays collections that can be published on the front end. The panel is tailored to user permissions.

  4. Actions Panel: grants users control over asset-related actions.

  5. Workspace: serves as the central area for interacting with assets, providing an organised environment for the users to view and manage their resources.

Key Business Rules:

  • User View and Edit Permissions: the viewing and editing options are contingent on user permissions, ensuring data security and access control.

  • Personalisation: when users personalise Asset Explorer, the system retains their preferences on a per-user basis, delivering a customised experience tailored to individual needs.

  • Component Visibility: All five components are visible on the screen, but the context they provide may differ based on user permissions, maintaining data integrity and control.

The Search Bar is a versatile gateway to efficient object retrieval. Located prominently at the top of the interface the Search Bar remains readily accessible at all times. Even when other overlays are displayed, it ensures uninterrupted productivity. With just a few keystrokes, users can initiate searches, explore, and uncover the objects they need, making it an indispensable tool for enhancing user experience and driving productivity in the Asset Explorer.

The Panels

The Asset Explorer features two panels, positioned on the left and right sides. The left-side panel is known as the Navigator, while the right-side panel is referred to as the Actions Panel.

The panels offer two primary interactions for users:

  • Hover Motion: when users hover over the panels, they expand, providing additional content and options. However, these expanded panels do not stay locked in place. If users move their cursor away from the panel, it will automatically collapse back to its default state.

  • Expand Motion: clicking on the expand icon or anywhere within the open target area allows users to lock the panel in an expanded position. This action gives users uninterrupted access to all the available options and content within the panel until the user chose to collapse it.

Navigator

The Navigator serves as an organisational tool for effectively managing all collections visible on the front end. Within this panel, users can create collections with customisable levels of visibility and download permissions.

Actions Panel

Action Panel is an essential element that provides access to various functions for working on the objects and/or collections. The Panel is docked on the right side of the workspace, and the user can expand or collapse the Panel.

The Action Panel is permission-based, granting system administrators the ability to customise the availability of pre-set selections within the Panel.
